Iran on Sunday introduced the first space observatory center capable of identifying objects appear in earth’s orbit. Semi-formal Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Minister of Defense Ahmad Vahidi as saying that this center will continue to observe objects moving in the universe and share data with other countries. Iranian President Mahmoud Admadinejad attended the opening ceremony of this center located near Delijan town, 200 km to the south of Tehran. Iran’s space program raised concerns from the West that Iran may develop and secretly produce nuclear war-heads. However, Iran affirms that its satellite aims to forecast natural disasters, especially earthquakes, improve telecommunications and expand monitoring of regional military.
