He said the IS killed Haruna Yukawa, 42, because the Japanese government had failed to meet their deadline to pay ransom. The IS demanded the release of female militant Sajida Al Rishawi, currently held in Jordan, in exchange for the other Japanese captive, journalist Kenji Goto.
The UN Security Council, Japan, and several other nations strongly condemned the IS’s killing of Haruna Yukawa and demanded that the IS immediately release Kenji Goto and other captives.
