(VOVworld) – Israel is advancing its 2-phase plan for more than 2,000 new houses in 6 West Bank settlement areas. This was stated on Thursday by Guy Inbar, a spokesman for the Israeli defense ministry unit responsible for civilian affairs in the Palestinian territories.

The same day, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned that this policy could destroy the Middle East peace process. Abbas’s spokesperson said Israeli settlements will bring negotiations to a standstill.
As a mediator, US Secretary of State John Kerry is working with both Israel and Palestine to bridge their differences with the hope that a framework agreement can be reached before the deadline on April 29th.
