The attacks increased after the recent killing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives. In a post on his Facebook page, Netanyahu warned the Islamic Jihad and Hamas that if the attacks don’t completely stop, Israel will be forced to launch the extensive war campaign it has planned as a contingency.

Most of the rockets have been intercepted by Israel’s anti-rocket Iron Dome system. No casualties have been reported, but one of the rockets hit the backyard of a kindergarten in Sderot city in southern Israel, causing damage. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rockets, calling the attack retaliation for the killing of member of their group near a fence separating Gaza and Israel.
