A transmission system has been connected to transmit electricity from the Sendai plant to households and businesses. This is the first time since the Fukushima disaster two years ago, that nuclear power has been generated.

The reactor officially reopened Tuesday after nearly two years offline despite public concerns about its safety. The Fukushima nuclear catastrophe was caused by an earthquake-tsunami disaster in 2011. This is the first reactor to resume operation in Japan under the new standards set after the calamity at Fukushima.
