(VOVworld) - Japan , the US and other donors have agreed with five Southeast Asian countries along the Mekong River to support sustainable development in the region.

The agreement was reached at a meeting of the Friends of the Lower Mekong (FLM) held in Laos on February 1-2. The agreement covers the areas of smart agriculture, water management, energy efficiency and environmental standards.
The donors also include Australia, the European Union (EU), the Republic of Korea, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the World Bank (WB). The five Mekong River countries are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
