(VOVworld) – The central province of Khanh Hoa needs to turn tourism into its economic spearhead, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a working session Tuesday on local socio-economic development and the fight against drought and saline infiltration.

Prime Minister Dung said the government is ready to help the province design new and effective tourism models and urged local authorities to promote advantages in tourism, services, aquaculture, and agriculture.

Khanh Hoa province was asked to restructure its agriculture and continue with the national new rural development program.

Prime Minister Dung said provincial leaders need to attract investment in infrastructure projects, like upgrading the Cam Ranh airport, and improve local competitiveness while protecting the environment.

He said the province’s 5-year plan should include practical measures to improve the living conditions of Khanh Hoa residents and contribute more to the national economy.
