(VOVworld) – A walking event was organized in Vientiane, Laos, on Saturday, to mark ASEAN's 49th founding anniversary and 19 years since Laos became a member of the organization.

Lao Foreign Minister Saleumsay Kommasith underlined the importance of the ASEAN Day to people in Southeast Asian countries and said 2016 is a very special year because it marks the first year of the ASEAN Community.  As the rotating Chair of ASEAN, Laos will do its utmost to push up the implementation of the ASEAN Vision 2025 and plans themed “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community”.
