Vietnam’s GDP grew 6.81 percent last year and 7.38 percent in the first quarter of this year, the highest rate in 10 years. Deputy Nguyen Thanh Xuan of Can Tho City, said: “The government’s report revealed a promising socio-economic situation and suggested measures for the rest of this year. Vietnam’s achievements have inspired the people’s trust and created momentum for future socio-economic development”.

Deputy Vu Thi Luu Mai of Hanoi said deputies and voters believe the National Assembly’s goals of stabilizing the macro economy, keeping the consumer price index around 4 percent, and maintaining a GDP growth rate of 6.7 percent this year are likely to be attained: “The positive socio-economic achievements were thanks to effective government management and strong efforts by businesses and individuals. But the government’s reports should include an assessment of how policies are applied in daily life, which would guide the National Assembly in policy making”.
