(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has praised the achievements of the Liaison Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, considering them a firm foundation for the future development of the committee and the nation.

Phuc made the commendation at the committee’s 3^rd congress on Sunday to elect a new board of executives for the 2012-2017 term. The Deputy PM said Overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, so the committee needs to promote its role as the link between the 90 million Vietnamese in Vietnam and the 5 million living abroad to create greater national unity and encourage them to join hands for Vietnam’s development.

Former Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phu Binh was elected chairman for the next 5-year term.
