(VOVworld)- Tony Abbott is Australia’s 28th prime minister after a decisive swing to his Liberal National party Coalition against ruling Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in the general election on Saturday. The electoral results shows that the Liberal National Party Coalition won over 90% of the votes with 90 seats out of 150 seats in the Lower House, an eligible majority to set up a government. Meanwhile, the Labor Party only got 55 seats. Mr Abbott's Liberal-National coalition ended the Labor party's six-year rule. Earlier Prime Minister Kevin Rudd conceded defeat and announced that he would not recontest the leadership of the Labor Party, saying it was ''time for renewal''.
