Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, GNC spokesman Omar Hemidan said that the peace plan proposed by UN Envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon didn’t meet the GNC’s expectations. He said it was willing to attend other talks backed by the UN on seeking a peaceful solution to Libya.
During talks in Morocco last Friday, UN Envoy Bernardino Leon suggested forming a Libyan national-unity government, which would begin work in a year, during which time new elections would be held across Libya. The internationally-recognised Libyan House of Representatives had accepted the UN peace plan.
