Mr. Quang was speaking at a lunar new year gathering of the press and representatives of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission, the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Amidst global headwinds that are putting pressure on Vietnam, media agencies will see revenue decline and advertising sales slump if they don’t take immediate action.

“Media agencies are assigned with heavier tasks and are facing increasingly intense competition from social media platforms. We must renew our thinking and action to produce more attractive and competitive products,” said Deputy PM Quang.
Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission, asked media agencies to focus on socio-economic development and make the greatest effort to build a “professional, humane and modern” press.

“Media workers should be more aware of the role, position, function, and task of the revolutionary press, while constantly improving their political steadfastness, professional ethics, and expertise," said Mr. Nghia.

"I believe that with our glorious tradition, effort, determination, and the desire for innovation, we will accomplish the missions assigned to us by the people, the Party and the State.”
