(VOVworld) – Participants in a meeting that focused on the relations between media and the National Assembly have praised the role of the media keeping the public informed about NA activities. They said in Hue on Tuesday that news agencies have helped the public communicate with the National Assembly about their hopes for Vietnam.

Over the past years, the National Assembly Office has facilitated favorable conditions for media agencies to promptly cover the activities of the legislative body and its related agencies. Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Chairman of the National Assembly Office, said an online TV system connecting the NA headquarters and NA delegations has been set up. Phuc said:

The Vietnamese National Assembly represents the people’s will and aspirations. Therefore its activities and operations should be publicized. The more active the NA is, the more the people can monitor, check, and contribute opinions. This is a sustainable method for the Vietnamese National Assembly to be able to fulfill obligations to the people, the Party, and the government.

At NA sessions, about 600 reporters, editors, and technicians have been supported by the NA Office to attend and cover news events. The number of live radio and television broadcasts has increased, attracting more public attention to the processes of legislation and supervision.
