Meeting of Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia-Pacific

(VNA) – The Government Inspectorate hosts the 17th meeting of the Steering Committee of the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia-Pacific in Hanoi today.

The annual event reviews, evaluates, and boost regional effort in fighting corruption. Chief Government Inspector, Huynh Phong Tranh said in recent years, the Vietnamese government has adjusted the related law and carried out programs to combat corruption. Investigation and prosecution agencies have retrieved property for the State. But Tranh said in face of more complicated corruption cases, the government has identified anti-corruption its key task in the coming time by reforming the administration, enhancing publicity and transparency, and accelerating investigation, supervision, and execution.

At the meeting, delegates discussed anti-corruption progress in member countries, including the implementation of the International Convention on Anti-Corruption and suggestions of the 2010 Initiative on Criminalization of Bribery in Asia and Pacific.
