Mekong Delta to expand socio-economy

(VOVworld) – The Mekong Delta is aiming for a GDP growth rate of up to 11% in 2013. This is one of the goals announced by the Southwest Steering Committee at a press conference on Thursday on the regional socio-economy in 2012 and targets and measures to develop regional socio-economy, politics, and security this year. Other targets include 1700 USD per capita income, 11 billion USD in export revenues, and 400,000 new jobs. To reach these goals, the Committee will work closely with relevant agencies to define each locality’s potential for proper investment and promotion policies. Additionally, localities will be helped to implement affiliate programs and replicate agricultural production models for high added values. The measures will renovate agriculture production for rural economic development.
