Mexican Parliament urges China to resolve East Sea issues through dialogue

(VOVworld) – The Executive Committee of the Mexican Parliament said it had proposed that President Enrique Pena Nieto, through the Foreign Ministry, ask China to resolve tensions in the East Sea through dialogue and negotiations and in accordance with international law. The proposal was made following an analysis by congressman Sebastian Alfonso de la Rosa Pelaez of the Democratic Revolutionary Party. He said that China’s actions violated the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and the 6-point principle to settle East Sea issues between Vietnam and China. He also warned that China’s illegal placement of an oilrig in Vietnamese waters increased tensions in the East Sea and could escalate regional instability and affect other regions.
