A joint statement by the French Council of the Muslim Faith and the Muslim Association in France said all Muslims should avoid extreme reactions. The statement was released after the Liberation published on its website Wednesday the cover page of Charlie Hebdo magazine featuring a caricature of the Prophet Mohammad.

Last Wednesday the office of the satirical magazine was attacked by 3 Islamist gunmen, who killed 12 people. Two other persons, including a policeman, were murdered in Paris soon after the Charlie Hebdo attack.

Bulgarian prosecutors said 29-year-old Fritz-Joly, Haitian-French person arrested on January 1st in Bulgaria while trying to escape to Turkey, is known to have been in contact with Cherif Kouachi, one of the two suspects in the shooting at the Charlie Hebdo office.
