Myanmar’s new parliament opens its first session

(VOVworld) – Myanmar’s new parliament opened its first session on Monday in Nay Pyi Taw. The session took place 3 months after the general election on November 8, 2015, in which the National League for Democracy (NLD) led by Aung San Suu Kyi, won the majority of seats in the parliament.

The first session was chaired by U Mann Win Khaing Than, speaker of the House of Nationalities and attended by 648 members of parliament. Chairman of the Parliament Man Win Khine said President and two Vice Presidents for the new term will be selected on March 17.
