NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung concludes visits to Switzerland, Italy

(VOVworld)- National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung returned to Hanoi on Sunday after attending the 130th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Geneva, visiting Switzerland and Italy. During the tour, Chairman Hung and his accompanying officials attended several meetings and were warmly welcomed by the hosts. At the plenary session of 130th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, Chairman Hung highlighted Vietnam’s viewpoints of being responsible and active in international issues, especially those concerning peace and democracy. Vietnam proposed the theme for the 132nd IPU in Vietnam as Parliament and the implementation of post-2015 sustainable programs.

During his visit to Switzerland, Chairman Hung held talks the Speaker of the Lower House Ruedi Lustenberger, met President of Switzerland’s Federal Assembly Hannes Germann and attended a plenary session of the Lower House. He expressed his hope to boost cooperation with Switzerland in all fields including economics, trade and education. In Italy, Chairman Hung met with Vice President of the Italian Lower House Marina Sereri, Italian President Napolitano and President of the Italian Senate, Pietro Grasso. The two sides agreed to strengthen the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership and cooperation between the two legislative bodies.

Chairman Hung on Saturday visited the Vatican and met Pope Francis I and Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican. The same day, the NA Chairman left Rome for Hanoi, concluding his official visit to Italy.
