The session heard a report on results of the 1st consultative conference on the deputies to the 15th National Assembly and preparations for the 2nd consultative conference to draft a preliminary list of candidates for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan urged for quick, but prudent preparations so that people and voters throughout Vietnam will be involved in the nomination and election in a democratic, fair, and legal manner.

“There is not much time left from now to the deadline for submission of candidate dossiers. So it is very urgent to carefully create a solid basis for the implementation of leadership and direction to ensure that the people and voters nationwide are entitled to participate in the nomination and election democratically, fairly and in accordance with law,” said Ms. Ngan.

At the meeting, the National Election Council voted to approve the draft Resolution on the number of constituencies, the list of constituencies and the number of National Assembly deputies in each constituency. According to the Resolution, which will be announced on Thursday in accordance with law, Vietnam will set up 184 constituencies.
