National Assembly deputies discussed draft law on international treaties

(VOVworld) - National Assembly deputies on Thursday discussed the draft law on international treaties and endorsement of a revised protocol on World Trade Organization. They agreed on the importance of the draft law in international economic integration and called for a specialized agency in charge.

Deputy Nguyen Dinh Quyen from Hanoi said the ratification of international treaties must comply with the Constitution and serve national interests: “International treaties have compulsory and optional norms.
We must be careful to evaluate norms in line with Constitutional principles. Reservation is an option to ensure no harm to Vietnamese key legal principles.”
Deputies agreed on an early approval of a protocol revising the convention on the establishment of the World Trade Organization, reflecting Vietnam’s commitment to international integration.
