National Assembly discusses Law on Residency

(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies on Saturday discussed revisions to the Law on Emulation and Rewards and the Law on Residence as well as the draft law on Employment. Most deputies agreed with the revised Law on Residence concerning the temporary residence that citizens have to prove to the relevant agencies. They said localities should map out appropriate plans for population distribution and move universities and hospitals to the suburb to reduce population density in major cities. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, a deputy from Da Nang city said: “There should be stricter regulations on residence in centrally-run cities than in other areas. More people from rural areas have been migrating to urban areas as a result of urbanization and unemployment. This has led to unbalanced population distribution and insecure social welfare.”
