National Assembly opens mid-year session

(VOVWORLD) - Lawmakers are gathering in Hanoi for the National Assembly (NA)’s mid-year session, which opened on Monday.

In his opening speech, Standing Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man said the total scheduled working time of the session will be 26 days and a half, divided into phases.

24 bills and draft resolutions will be discussed or approved. This is the largest volume of legislative content to be considered at a session in the current 15th tenure, according to Mr. Man.

Deputies will discuss socio-economic development and the state budget last year and in the first months of this year, he said, stressing that personnel matters are also high on the agenda.

The National Assembly will consider the election of the State President and National Assembly Chairperson and approval of members of the National Defense and Security Council.

“Lawmakers should consider and discuss the personnel issue carefully so that the decisions will be made in compliance with Party regulations and State laws, ensuring high consensus and consistency,” said Mr. Man.

Following the speech by Mr. Man, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai presented  a Government report on socio-economic development and the State budget last year and in the first months of 2024.
