According to the Secretary General of the Parliament, Secretariat Manohar Prasad Bhattarai, all political parties were asked to submit their lists of candidates by Tuesday.

Local newspapers reported that CPN Maoist Centre Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is most likely to become the new Prime Minister thanks to the support of the Nepali Congress, the largest party in the House.  The new Prime Minister will need a majority support (298 of 595 votes from MPs).

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has urged the Parliament to beef up the election process and called on all political parties to form a new majority government.
