(VOVworld)- The Minister of Information and Communication, in his Q&A session at the National Assembly on Wednesday said that Vietnam is one of 20 countries with the largest internet use in the world, so ensuring network security is a major challenge. Nguyen Bac Son said all activities in Vietnam are associated with the networks and network equipment was imported, so it’s a challenge to ensure information security and safety. Minister Son said: “The Ministry of Information and Communication has issued a circular stipulating coordination activities for emergency response. In fact, we have carried out emergency rescue for our computer networks. It is also important to strengthen IT human resource training. Vietnam now has a faculty for network information security at the Academy for Post and Telecommunication. We have also implemented several projects on information security and safety and strengthened international cooperation in this field. The Ministry of Information and Communication proposed the National Assembly include the draft Law on Information Safety in next year’s agenda to create a more complete legal framework”.

Son said that the adjustment of 3G subscription was in line with State policy, current regulation and Vietnam’s international commitments. He said that Vietnam is expected to apply 4G technology by 2015. Son also highlighted journalists’ contributions to national construction and defense and pointed out their shortcomings: “In press management related affairs, the Ministry will propose the Government issue more decrees to better manage press activities and revise the Press Law. The Ministry will strengthen the mechanism for information management to help journalists access information accurately and on time. We will also strengthen the inspection of press activities”.

Mr. Son will continue his Q&A session on Thursday.
