India considers its partnership with ASEAN as a motivation to strengthen economic growth, wealth, peace and stability in the region. ASEAN-India trade volume hit nearly 80 billion USD, above the 70 billion USD target this year. India and ASEAN had signed the 2009 Commodity Free Trade Agreement which came into full swing last August.  Secretary East Janjay Singh said yesterday in a media conference at New Delhi that both sides are negotiating other FTA’s in service and investment. India has voiced its support for the ASEAN Initiative to strengthen political institutional and security links with India.
