New Indian Cabinet sworn in

(VOVworld)-Narendra Modi was sworn in yesterday/ on Monday as India's 15th prime minister, offering a new, more conservative government to a country thirsty for economic change.

India's new prime minister, Narendra Modi, takes the oath of office in front of the presidential palace in New Delhi.



The ceremony took place at the presidential palace in New Delhi in front of 4,000 guests that included 8 heads of government; seven are from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation. Modi heads a 45-member Council of Ministers including 24 with Cabinet members, and 21 ministers of state. Modi’s cabinet is the youngest one in India’s history with no member over the age of 75. Modi became the new Indian Prime minister after his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 272 seats in the 543-seat parliament, the biggest mandate ever for a non-Congress Party government.
