A high-ranking government official on Thursday said that the newly appointed Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah has offered his resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas. It was not immediately clear whether President Abbas had accepted the resignation of Hamdallah, who was sworn in two weeks ago on June 6. Previously, on June 2, President Abbas had assigned Rami Hamdallah, head master of Al-Najah University in Nablus city West Coast as the replacement of Western-favored economist Salam Fayyad.
