New school year opens

(VOVworld)- Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai attended a new school year opening ceremony of Thai Binh High School for Gifted Students on Wednesday. In his address, the Deputy Prime Minister urged the school’s teachers and students to accelerate educational reform. Also on Wednesday, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien attended the opening of the new school year of Bac Kan High School for Gifted Students. Mr. Luu praised the school’s achievements and asked the teachers and students to improve the quality of both teaching and learning and increase the focus on foreign languages and computer science.

The same day, Politburo member and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan beat the school drum to launch the new school year at a high school for gifted students in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.  In her address, Ms Ngan urged local teachers and students to effectively respond to the advances in teaching and learning. Meanwhile, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai attended a similar event at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai high school. He urged the school’s teachers and local education sector to accelerate educational reform: “It’s necessary to effectively and creatively respond to the movement following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. We need to continue reforming the education and training sectors to build an educated society. It’s important to improve the quality of teachers and educators, reform our policies and mechanisms and increase international cooperation in education and training.
