(VOVworld)- President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan on Tuesday paid a New Year visit to the Tam Binh Center for Children. Nhan praised the center’s staff for wholeheartedly caring for the children. He expressed his hope that the center will teach the children life skills so they can integrate into the community.

Local authorities, organizations and individuals in Lao Cai have donated nearly 1.5 billion VND to help the poor celebrate the New Year. This year, An Giang authorities set up 8 delegations to visit and present New Year gifts to local military units, hospitals, the Executive Board of the Buddhist Shangha and the Protestant Church. Quang Binh authorities delivered 70 gifts worth about 200,000 VND each to orphans, ethnic minority children, social beneficiaries and lonely elders. The Labor Confederation of Hau Giang province organized a Tet celebration program and presented 3,000 gifts to poor workers worth 200,000 to 500,000 VND each.
