North Korea on Monday called for abolishing the United Nations Command (UNC) in South Korea and replacing it with a Peace Agreement. North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the question is whether the US wants to maintain an “anti-North Korea policy”. The reason why the US protests replacing the UNC with a Peace agreement is that Washington wants to keep the UNC. North Korea says it will maintain and strengthen its ability to deter war until the US makes the right choice, and that a political agreement higher than the military command level is the only way to ensure a sustainable peace on the Korean peninsula.
