Numerous activities celebrate International Women’s Day
(VOVWORLD) - A wide range of activities took place across Vietnam on Friday to mark the International Women’s Day and the 1,984th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) uprising against foreign invaders.

Over 5,000 people dressed in “ao dai” or Vietnamese traditional gowns, joined a parade in HCM city.
The Women’s Union of Da Nang city organized a series of events honoring ao dai and promoting the image of dynamic and friendly Da Nang people. It also presented gifts to poor children and supported women in difficult circumstances.
“We have organized many meaningful activities responding to 'Ao Dai Week' launched by the Vietnam Women’s Union. Unions at all levels also launched renovation projects to contribute resources to support women in building and repairing houses. We also implemented the 'Godmother' program to mobilize benefactors to help orphans," Nguyen Thi Huyen, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women’s Union, said.
The Women’s Union of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho released the book “The History of Can Tho City’s Women’s Union (1975-2020)”. This project honors the contributions of generations of Can Tho women while summarizing the lessons learned in the work of the Union and women’s movements.
