Ousted Ukrainian President pledges to fight to resolve crisis

(VOVworld) - Deposed Ukrainian president Vikor Yanukovych held a press conference in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, on Friday. Speaking to about 200 journalists, Yanukovych once again declared himself the legal president of Ukraine and strongly asked for deals signed February 21st to be immediately implemented to solve the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and to end Constitution reform in September.

He said that the presidential election to be held on May 25 in Ukraine is illegal. He also called for an end to bloodshed in Crimea and stated that this peninsula is part of Ukraine, and that Ukraine is a united country which can’t be divided.

At the press conference, Yanukovych blamed the US and the West for being irresponsible for the crisis in Ukraine, and asked the administration, the opposition and the European Council to investigate recent clashes in Kiev, in which many people were killed.
