Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh reiterated the Party and State’s consistent policies of giving top priority to education and science and technology development. He added that the government has set out many preferential policies for education and training, especially in remote and ethnic areas.

"Education is of great importance in boosting socio-economic development and accelerating poverty reduction in mountainous and ethnic regions in a sustainable way. The Ministry of Education and Training and the government's Committee for Ethnic Affairs should advise the government on more appropriate policies for ethnic human resources development,"  Mr. Binh noted.

Earlier, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong met with the outstanding ethnic students. She expressed her belief that they will later contribute to national development and global integration.
