Overseas Vietnamese attends Tet get-togethers in Panama, Japan, Egypt

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese people in Japan gathered on Saturday to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet). Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung praised their enthusiastic contributions to Vietnam’s development and stronger ties between Vietnam and Japan. The number of Vietnamese people living in Japan was about 90,000 last year.

On Saturday, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt hosted a Tet meeting in Cairo. Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung briefed Vietnamese expatriates on Vietnam’s major political and socio-economic achievements and the development of Vietnam-Egypt relationship last year.
Chung applauded the effort of the Vietnamese people there:“The instability in Egypt last year caused difficulties for local Vietnamese. In this context, the Embassy did its best in ensuring security for the community. I was happy to see you overcome the hardship and obtain achievements in your work. Our people have united and supported each other, preserved the traditional Vietnamese culture, and helped to strengthen bilateral ties. I acknowledge your patriotism which was reflected in your effort together with Vietnamese at home to defend national sea and islands .”

The same day, Vietnamese people in Panama met to celebrate Tet. Vietnamese Ambassador to Panama Nguyen An Duy highlighted contributions by overseas Vietnamese their to Vietnam’s socio-economic development. Duy wished attendees good health, prosperity, and success.

Such Tet meetings encouraged greater involvement of overseas Vietnamese in Vietnam’s development and defense.
