(VOVworld) - Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki has urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open a trial on war crimes that Israel committed in the month-long conflict in the Gaza Strip. The call was made during Malki’s visit to ICC headquarters in the Netherlands on Tuesday, shortly after Israel and Hamas adopted a 72-hour truce mediated by Egypt. But Israel is not an ICC member so the court has no jurisdiction to investigate the accusations. Jurisdiction can only be granted by a UN Security Council resolution, which would surely be vetoed by the US as Israel’s strategic ally.
