Party Central Committee wraps up its 8th session

(VOVWORLD) - The 12th Party Central Committee wrapped up its 8th session in Hanoi on Saturday after 5 day-sitting.

In his closing speech, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said the session concluded successfully. He highlighted Vietnam’s achievements so far this year and the first half of the 12th tenure of the Party Central Committee. He pointed out challenges in realizing the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress. Mr. Trong said: “In 2019, we need to strengthen the macro-economy, control inflation, improve our response to fluctuations on the global market, boost administrative and judicial reforms, streamline the apparatus, ensure social security, and improve social welfare and people’s life. We need to strengthen national defense and security, maintain political stability, to be proactive in international integration, and expand international relations to raise Vietnam’s prestige in the region and the world.”

The Party Central Committee agreed to issue a new Resolution on the Strategy on the Sustainable Development of Vietnam’s Marine Economy until 2030 and Vision to 2045.

Party leader Trong said that the Party Central Committee agreed to issue a Decree on Party officials and members’ responsibility for setting up an example. All members of the Party Central Committee agreed to recommend the National Assembly to elect Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as President of Vietnam at the legislature’s upcoming 6th session. 

The Party leader asked Party Central Committee members to work harder to contribute to the fulfillment of socio-economic tasks this year and the years to come.
