Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong meets Indian Speaker of the Lower House
(VOVworld) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong met the Speaker of Indian Lower House, Meira Kumar, on Thursday as part of his ongoing visit to India.

He said Vietnamese National Assembly is renovating its performance and treasures experience sharing with legislative bodies. Both agreed on the need to exchange information in law making and strengthen cooperation in inter-parliamentarian fora. Both host and guest said the two legislative bodies need to further coordinate closely at multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP) and the ASEAN People’s Forum (APF).
Speaker Kumar said India’s congress wants to promote strategic relations with Vietnam, especially in national defense and security, trade and investment, education and culture. The Party leader met executives of major political parties in India, including the Communist Party of India, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and received association and business delegations before leaving for Mumbai the same day.
