Party leader encourages cooperation between Vietnamese, Cambodian localities

(VOVWORLD) - Cooperation between localities of Vietnam and Cambodia will help deepen bilateral ties, said Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Friday’s meeting with Yun Min, Governor of Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province.

Mr. Trong hailed the province’s cooperation with a number of Vietnamese localities, which, he said, should be broadened to tap the potential and development needs of both sides. Mr. Trong presented 50 computers to Preah Sihanouk province.

Governnor Yun Min said the province is looking for Vietnam’s continual support for local infrastructure and investment cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.

The same day, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, who is also President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, hosted a banquet in honor of Trong and his entourage. Hun Sen hailed the sound relationship between the two parties as a key factor for each country’s national defense and development. He added that his party and the Cambodian people are keen on the traditional friendship, neighborliness, and all-round cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam, which, Hun Sen believed, will be boosted by Party leader Trong’s visit. Mr. Trong expressed his confidence that bilateral ties will be taken to a new height.
