(VOVworld) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has called on Vietnamese and foreign scholars to help people around the world understand Vietnam.

At a reception Thursday for delegates to the 5th international conference on Vietnam studies in Hanoi, Party leader Trong highlighted Vietnam’s progress in national development but acknowledged that there is a thorny road ahead.

He said: “We hope international scientists will continue to help promote the Vietnamese image globally so that the world will understand Vietnam more fully. We also look forward to learning the experience needed to develop the nation.”

Mr. Trong called on Vietnamese scientists to steadily increase their professional knowledge, understanding, foreign language skill and cooperation with foreign scientists.

Entitled ‘Sustainable Development in the Context of Global Change’, the 5th Vietnam studies conference is focused this year on technology transfer, climate change, the environment, and sustainable development.
