(VOVworld) – The party politburo met with retired senior party and state officials from the northern provinces in Hanoi on Friday.

The former officials were briefed on the country’s socio-economic development, security, national defense, external relations and party and state management in recent years.

In his address, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that the meeting reviewed discussions of the just concluded party plenum, which touched upon issues of national development, party building, party leadership in external relations, national defense, and security. He said that the politburo’s view on the vote of confidence will remain unchanged. The party leader expressed his hope that the former officials will contribute their experience to help in party building and national development.
