Philippines’ President invites Vietnam’s President to attend APEC Leaders’ Week in November
(VOVworld) – Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son received the Philippines ambassador to Vietnam Jerril Santos, who presented President Benigno Aquino’s invitation to President Truong Tan Sang to attend the APEC Leaders’ Week in the Philippines in November.
The Philippines ambassador briefed his host on main activities during the week and said that President Aquino hoped for Vietnam’s active participation in the activities. Deputy Foreign Minister Son said Vietnam has been cooperating with the Philippines to hold a successful APEC 2015. He also laid out Vietnam’s preparations for its hosting of APEC 2017, including the establishment of a National APEC 2017 Committee on July 21. He hoped that both countries will continue to cooperate in areas of mutual concern and that the Philippines will help Vietam prepare for APEC 2017. Both also touched upon a number of areas for bilateral cooperation, including the establishment of a strategic partnership.
