(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has stressed the urgent need to build a tumor center of Cho Ray hospital in Ho Chi Minh city to ease the overloaded hospital. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the tumor center on Sunday, PM Dung said he hoped that Cho Ray hospital will uphold their tradition of the leading hospital in the southern region. He urged for efforts to complete the project on time, adding that the govnerment will allocate capital to build a second Cho Ray hospital with 1,000 beds: “We should be determined to take coordinated measures: upgrading facilities and training doctors and medical workers. The Party and State are worried about hospitals’ overloading. So we have to do our best to take care of people’s health. I hope Cho Ray hospital with its fine tradition and people’s trust will do a better job in the future.”

The Tumor Center will cover an area of 1,900 square meters and comprises of 14 floors with 250 beds. Its total investment capital is about 20 million USD from the government bonds.
