PM congratulates Khmer people on Chol Chnam Thmay festival

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday sent a congratulatory letter to the Khmer ethnic minority people in southern Vietnam on the occasion of their traditional New Year Festival Chol Chnam Thmay.

The letter said that the solidarity, consensus and joint effort of the Party, the people, and the army has helped Vietnam gain many achievements and improve people’s living conditions. Khmer people and monks have contributed to those achievements.

Mr. Phuc said he hopes that this year the Khmer people and monks will continue to unite and obtain higher achievements in socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, and cultural identity preservation.

PM Phuc wished the Khmer a warm and joyful New Year.

The same day, Vietnam Fatherland Front President Tran Thanh Man sent greetings to all Khmer monks and people on this year’s Chol Chnam Thmay festival.
