(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a national online meeting on COVID-19 response on the weekend that the ultimate goal is to protect people’s health, drive back the pandemic, particularly in critical areas, ensure socio-economic development and social welfare, and restore production and business.

Prime Minister Chinh emphasized that the top priority is public health and urged greater determination in containing the current wave of COVID-19, focusing on hotspots in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi.
In addition to fighting the pandemic, socio-economic development, national defense, social security, and public order and safety must be ensured, the Prime Minister said, adding that Vietnam needs to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.
He ordered quicker implementation of the comprehensive vaccine strategy, and quicker acquisition of vaccine supplies through diplomatic, economic, and social organization channels.
He ordered the acceleration of vaccines purchases, vaccine research and production in Vietnam, and the transfer of vaccine production technology from other countries.
