PM Pham Minh Chinh meets US business community

(VOVWORLD) - Cooperation between Vietnam and the US continues to develop in all fields, particularly in investment and finance, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at a meeting with the US business community in Washingon, D.C on Thursday.

At the meeting, held by the US-ASEAN Business Council and the US Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Chinh said Vietnam considers the US a leading partner.

Vietnam is the ninth largest trading partner of the US and the US is Vietnam’s second biggest trading partner. Two-way trade turnover between the two countries in 2021 totaled nearly 112 billion USD in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. About working with US businesses on digital transformation, energy transformation, climate change response, healthcare, pandemic prevention, business environment improvement, and network security,

Mr. Chinh said, "These are global issues that can only be solved with a global approach upholding solidarity and multilateralism for cooperation. These are also people’s issues, so it’s important to mobilize the participation of people and make people the center, the subject, the goal, and the driving force."

Regarding the Indo-Pacific economic framework, Mr. Chinh said, "This framework is of great importance to Vietnam, the US, and other countries. Vietnam is ready to work with the US in analyzing, evaluating, clarifying, and concretizing its contents. Vietnam is ready to support cooperation activities for peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world."

The Prime Minister asked that the US continue to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of the war, search for missing martyrs, help victims of Agent Orange, clean up toxic chemicals, and remove mines and other UXOs.
