PM requests Vietnam Electricity Group to ensure sufficient supply for national development

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday urged Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to carefully review each production and business plan or target set for this year, accomplish tasks, and ensure sufficient electricity supply for the country's socio-economic development.

At a working session with EVN Prime Minister Chinh acknowledged last year’s achievements and praised the Group for its important contribution to socio-economic development achievements of the country. Discussing candidly the difficulties and shortcomings, the Prime Minister requested EVN to patiently and confidently overcome difficulties and shortcomings and promote what has been done.

The Prime Minister also requested EVN to strictly abide by regulations on operating the electricity system and market, and ensure fuel for electricity production and generation. Efforts should be made to complete 190 power grid projects from 110-500kV, he said.

In addition, based on the approved National Energy Strategy and Power Plan 8, the Prime Minister asked the Group to map out and implement the medium and long-term strategy on energy development suited to new trends, and work out scenarios and solutions to unexpected problems.

The Prime Minister emphasized that EVN must take the lead in implementing the green, clean, and sustainable energy transition strategy, including researching and investing in new energy projects, offshore wind and hydrogen power.
