PM works with Ha Tinh Formosa

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc says that the government, Ha Tinh and neighboring provinces, and the Hung Nghiep Formosa Steel Company have done everything they can to repair damage from the environmental incident that occurred in the central region in early 2016.

Mr. Phuc made the statement at a meeting with leaders of the Formosa Group and the Hung Nghiep Formosa Steel Company.
Toxic waste water from the Formosa steel plant caused massive fish deaths and affected the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people in the central coastal region.
The company has admitted its responsibility, made a public apology to the Vietnamese government and people, paid 500 million USD in compensation, and taken steps to correct environmental violations.
