He also launched a tree planting movement for this year, stressing the importance of forestation and forest protection for wider environmental protection and socio-economic development. He urged the central Party committees, fatherland fronts, and social organizations to communicate the important role and humane values of tree planting and forestation: “I call on everyone to plant trees and protect the forests to live up to President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings. He said that the Trung sisters symbolized the staunchness and patriotism of Vietnamese women: “Upholding the patriotism of the Trung sisters, today’s generation is determined to safeguard national sovereignty. With unity, justice, and strong international support, we will certainly succeed in defending our sovereignty. By losing a piece of our territory, national independence or self-reliance, we will not be worth of the great sacrifices of the Trung sisters.”
